  3. Holographic Reticle: Both of us were impressed by the clarity and brightness of the reticle. Although Tom is pretty choosy when it comes to brightness settings he found its 20 brightness settings great for use in any lighting scenario.
  4. Durability and Reliability: The sight maintained zero perfectly throughout our use, even after exposure to various shooting conditions and the occasional jolts and impacts.

What Could Be Better:

  1. Battery Life: While sufficient for regular use, the battery life of the EXPS-2 isn’t as long-lasting as some other red dot sights we’ve used. We had to be mindful of keeping spare batteries, especially during longer shooting sessions.
  2. Price: The EXPS-2 is on the higher end of the price spectrum. Although we found its performance and features justify the cost, it might not be the first choice for shooters on a tight budget.

Our experience with the EOTech EXPS-2 was highly positive.

It’s an investment that is worth making for any serious shooter looking for a reliable, high-quality holographic sight.

How I Choose the Best Red Dot Sights?

It’s worth investing in a good quality sight.

I look at several factors, but some of the most crucial ones are:

  1. Dot Size and Brightness: The dot should be clear and bright, but not too big that it covers the target.
  2. Battery Life: Long battery life means less worry about the sight dying at a crucial moment.
  3. Durability and Reliability: A good red dot sight should withstand recoil and rough handling.
  4. Ease of Use: It should be easy to mount, adjust, and calibrate.
  5. Size and Weight: Depends on the firearm and your use. Lighter and smaller for handguns, bigger for rifles.

Lately, there’s been a trend towards more durable and longer-lasting red dot sights.

Brands are focusing on making sights that can take a beating and keep working.

Also, there’s a move towards sights with better battery technology, some can now last for years without needing a change.
